Burleigh Keg Jump is back bigger and better for 2023. Join us on Saturday, August 19th, at a new epic location, Distillery Road Markets, from 3:00pm to 9:00pm. All ages are welcome.

Burleigh Keg Jump will host the best street skateboarders from around the country to compete for a prize pool valued at $10,000. Skaters will put on a show across best trick and the main event with the winning skateboarder clearing and landing the highest number of Burleigh beer kegs on the night to score the renowned Burleigh Golden Growler Trophy.
Dani Campbell broke the record and jumped 14 kegs in 2022. Can the record be broken?!
The event is partnered with Slam Skateboarding Magazine and Distillery Road Markets.
Come along, enjoy world-class beer, live music, DJ, Quality street food and after party till late! This is the event of the year. Don’t miss out!

Artist in Residence – Darren Kirby

As brewers we are single-mindedly focussed and passionate about brewing seriously good beer.

This month, we’re honoured to share the passion of renowned skate photographer, Darren Kirby, by showcasing a gallery of his iconic works in our Burleigh Taphouse.

While most people look forward to the weekend, Darren Kirby lives for it!

When it comes to basking in the sub-tropical climate of the Gold Coast and its surrounds, he doesn’t waste a god-damn minute. Perhaps he’s making up for lost time after growing up skateboarding on the cold, bluestone-tiled streets of Melbourne. Or perhaps it’s simply what he was born to do: Head north and prosper, minus a shirt.

His move to the Sunshine State [circa: 2007] coincided, or at least gave birth to several new passions, surfing in board shorts and photography being the main ones that come to mind. His initial subjects included palm trees, tacky neon-lit motels and salty beach humans, doing salty beach things. But it was inevitable that his primary subject would of course, become skateboarding.

There was a time in the mid 90s through to the late 2000s that you couldn’t flick through an Australian skateboarding publication without seeing numerous incarnations of this guy getting wild on the streets. He was literally the poster boy for multiple shoe and clothing companies and coupled with editorial features and even covers it was undeniably a bit of a Kirby fest. As the years ticked over, slowly but surely, he went from being the subject of the pages of these magazines to being credited with taking the photos themselves.

Fast forward another decade and he’s in the trenches, well, gutters at least, more than ever, having become an integral part of the Queensland skateboarding scene, and documenting the seemingly endless talent it produces.

The man’s dedication is well and truly worthy of a raised glass. Cheers Kirby.

GOLD! At the World Beer Championships

GOLD! At the World Beer Championships

Our World Beer Championship Gold Medal tally has now climbed to 28! This years Championships were held in Chicago, Illinois – judged by an expert industry panel who evaluated beers from around the world in 125 different categories.

Burleigh Japan Black, a 4.6% ABV Japanese inspired Black Lager scored an impressive review, along with 93 points to take out the Gold Medal in the Best Black Beer category, in the world-renowned competition. Cheers to that!

Conducted by the esteemed Beverage Testing Institute (BTI), the judges noted that our winning brew is “an unabashedly complex black lager with an easy drinking appeal.” The judges highlighted Burleigh Japan Blacks “walnut colour, aromas of smoked chocolate soufflé, finely carbonated, dryish medium-to-full body and a tingling, medium-length black raisin bread and toasted nuts finish”.

The 2022 World Beer Championships list of winners was released in late January and we were the only Australian brewery to place within the Gold Medal category!

Brewmaster and Co-Founder, Brennan Fielding reflects on the 74 world medals won over the last decade, “As brewers, it’s humbling to see our Burleigh beers recognised on a world stage. I’m so proud of our local team and the hard work they put in every single day. It takes a whole community to brew a beer and to be awarded gold at this level is very humbling – we’re always talking about new beers here at Burleigh and this award represents world class.”

Burleigh Japan Black was one of our most popular Taphouse Exclusive beers in the Taphouse over summer as a one batch only brew. It sold out very quickly and received overwhelmingly great feedback from our local community. Burleigh Japan Black is a very easy, approachable dark lager – it’s not at all intimidating for those who would usually shy away from a darker beer. The brewers are already working on the next batch. We can’t wait to bring it back!
